Destruction Party: Robert Frank: Books and Films, 1947–2017
Friday, Jan. 5, 2018 – Friday, Jan. 5, 2018
06:00 PM – 08:00 PM
US/Central
When this newsprint exhibition was first proposed to Robert Frank, whose photographs have set auction records as the most expensive photos in the world, he commented, "Cheap, quick and dirty, that's how I like it!" But, it wasn't until hearing the final destination of the prints - the trashcan - that he fully consented. Upon hearing this component, he tossed a handful of prints next to his cast-iron stove to be used as fuel and growled: "Nothing left for the rotten art market!"
In this sprit, we invite you to join us in HCP's galleries on the last day of the exhibition to destroy the exhibition prints as we listen to music from 1947 to the present. Refreshments and trashcans provided!
