This week, Virtual Cinema takes you on a journey through the life of Civil Rights icon John Lewis. Also on tap: exploring the creativity of 12 family-friendly animated short films.

► John Lewis: Good Trouble

Declared “essential viewing” by Forbes, the new film John Lewis: Good Trouble chronicles the Georgia congressman’s more than 60 years of social activism and legislative action on voting rights, gun control, health-care reform, and immigration. The timely documentary tells his extraordinary story in rare archival footage and interviews about his childhood, his family, and his life-changing meeting with Martin Luther King Jr. in 1957. At 80 years old, John Lewis is serving his 17th term in the House of Representatives and has remained committed in his pursuit of progressive social movements and human rights in the United States. Presented as part of the film series complementing the exhibition Soul of a Nation: Art in the Age of Black Power.
