The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and Asia Society Texas Center team up for a workshop about the art of paper cutting from two areas of the world: Persia and Japan.

Explore the history and different styles of Persian and Japanese paper-cutting art—particularly the use of images, and themes of gardens and nature—in relation to the Ayomi Yoshida installation at Asia Society Texas Center, and the MFAH exhibition Garden Paradise: The Magnificent Safavid Carpet from the Burrell Collection, Glasgow. Then, complete your own masterpiece using Persian and Japanese techniques, as demonstrated by teaching artist Vehishta Kaikobad.

Recommended for ages 10 & older.
