The Health Museum, in partnership with the Duke University Talent Identification Program (TIP), will host day-long Academic Adventures classes January 30 through May 14. Open to 5th and 6th grade students who have participated in the Duke TIP 4th/5th Grade Talent Search, these day long courses provide challenging, hands-on learning experiences that promote creativity and critical thinking and allow students to explore topics not typically covered in school.
Registration is underway for classes held Saturdays from 10 am-4 pm on January 30, February 20, March 19, April 16 and May 14. Topics include Veterinarian for a Day, Neuroscientist for a Day, Engineer This, Anesthesiologist for a Day, Pediatrician for a Day, Surgeon for a Day, Pharmacist for a Day, Cardiologist for a Day, Designing Incredible Machines, Let’s Get Down to Business, Marine Biology: Wonders of the Sea, Creative Writing, Microbe Detective and Tissue Engineer for a Day.

Special exhibits may require an additional fee - Classes cost $160 and include lunch and a combination of lectures, videos, hands-on experiments and field trips to The Texas Medical Center when applicable. Financial Aid is available on a first-come, first-served basis to families who demonstrate need.
