This Iconoclast Artists book launch and performance event celebrates the publication of two anthologies of student poetry: They Say, Vol. 4 is the fourth English anthology, and Ellos Dicen, Vol. 1 is the first in Spanish. The annual Iconoclast Poetry Slam features student artists from the program performing some of their most inspiring poetry.
About the Program
Iconoclast Artists is a nonprofit, in-school program, free to students at more than 20 elementary, middle, and high schools, and juvenile-justice facilities, in underserved Houston and Galveston communities. Teachers work with young people once a week to provide academic, artistic, social, and emotional support, with the goal of breaking through barriers of race, religion, socio-economics, and ethnicity to allow the students to be heard.
Drop in! This event is free. On Thursdays, Museum general admission is free, courtesy of Shell Oil Company.
