Presented by Francesco Attesti, pianist; and Helga K. Aurisch, curator, European art, and organizing curator of  “High Society: The Portraits of Franz X. Winterhalter”

Celebrate Mother’s Day with exquisite paintings and beautiful music!

This special presentation features excerpts from a new concert film of two piano concertos by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. In the film, the sublime pieces—Concerto No. 14 in E-Flat Major, KV 449 and Concerto No. 23 in A Major, KV 448—are performed by renowned Italian pianist Francesco Attesti with the accompaniment of Orchestra OIDA from Arezzo, conducted by Paolo Belloli. The performances were filmed by director Pietro Tagliaferri at a historic palace in Tuscany, then combined with stunning images to complement the Romantic expressiveness of the concertos.

About the Programs & Activities

Born in Cortona in 1975, Attesti is considered one of the finest interpreters of Romantic and early 20th-century repertoire. The Romantic period provides a solid link to the spirit and tenor of the High Society exhibition. Concerto No. 14 was written for the daughter of one of Mozart's friends in Vienna, and the romantic expressiveness of Concerto No. 23 has made it one of Mozart’s most beloved and popular.

Attesti introduces the film excerpts, and a Q&A led by curator Helga K. Aurisch follows. Audience members are invited to join docent-led tours of the exhibition after the presentation. DVDs of Deeply Mozart are for sale at the Museum.
