Between Love & Madness, 2017, Image by Peter Molick
Join Lawndale and artist Christopher Sperandio for a conversation about the historic Mexican "micro-comics" that inspired the current exhibition Between Love & Madness: Mexican Comic Art from the 1970s on Sunday, February 18 at 2 PM in Lawndale's O'Quinn Gallery.
Since the mid-90s, artist Christopher Sperandio has made comic books a part of a collaborative, museum-based practice. As an Associate Professor at Rice University, he founded the Comic Art Teaching and Study Workshop (CATS), as a space for comics research and education within Rice University's Department of Visual and Dramatic Arts.
Between Love & Madness: Mexican Comic Art from the 1970s, organized by Sperandio with his students, is the first large-scale CATS project. Sperandio will speak about the exhibition in the context of his long-standing comic art practice.
This event is free and open to the public.
