JP Morgan Chase Bank Building in downtown Houston

Art Deco style lives again inside the MFAH with the roadsters in Sculpted in Steel: Art Deco Automobiles and Motorcycles, 1929–1940 and the luxury items in Deco Nights: Evenings in the Jazz Age.
Join architect Celeste Williams, an expert on Houston Art Deco architecture, on a two-hour walking tour of selected buildings downtown that feature the distinctive style. Art Deco, which arrived in Houston in the late 1920s, helped transform the city from a medium-sized Southern town to a major American metropolis. Examples of buildings that may be visited on this tour include the JP Morgan Chase Bank Building on Main Street (1929), Mellie Esperson Building on Travis Street (1941), and the 1001 McKinney Street Building at Main Street (1947).
Wear your walking shoes and come along for the ride as we travel back in time to explore Houston’s Art Deco architectural history. The group travels together on the METRORail to downtown Houston.
