Imagine what it must have been like for the first northern inhabitants to raise their eyes to the dazzle of the Northern Lights. The Aurora Borealis still casts its mysterious and colorful spell over us, and Norwegian solar physicist Dr. Pal Brekke has captured that enduring fascination in a new documentary, The Northern Lights: A Magic Experience.
Working with photographer Fredrik Broms, Brekke has created an HD film that combines animation, time-lapse cinematography, and spectacular soloar images from NASA satellites to tell the story of the Northern Lights, covering aspects from myth to science.
Following the film, Dr. Brekke will share his experiences in the field as a longtime observer of the Northern Lights, as well as how the film was produced. A senior advisor at the Norwegian Space Centre, Breeke also worked for the European Space Agency as the deputy project scientist for the Solar and heliospheric observatory at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.
This one-night only event at HMNS is the Texas premiere of The Northern Lights: Nature's Spectacle.
