In this captivating blend of comic caper and thriller, 30-something Juan (Gael García Bernal) still lives at home. Frustrated by his lack of professional progress and ambition, he convinces his friend Benjamin (Leonardo Ortizgris) to join him and break into Mexico City’s Anthropology Museum to steal priceless Mayan artifacts. While the actual robbery is meticulously planned, the amateur thieves have no idea how to sell these treasures once they have them! Incredibly based on a real events, Museo’s assured blend of themes and genres is both profound and hilarious.
“Museo is the work of a genuinely creative directorial talent, and the early family scenes, richly detailed and shrewdly acted, provide just the right emotional context for this squabbling, indecisive gang of two.” - Chicago Tribune
“Museo is a fun, stylish, singular heist flick that's about so much more than the theft itself.” - Los Angeles Times
“Ruizpalacios relies on anecdotes to show reflections about time, sense of responsibility, identity and art itself.” - En Filme
“...cinematographer Damián García knows exactly how to shoot it, the boys feet magnified as the gingerly step through archeological models, his camera swiveling until they are upside down on screen, then casting their shadows on a wall...” - Reeling Reviews
