Twice yearly, Bayou Bend presents a remarkable opportunity to hear renowned scholars speak about interesting and important aspects of American decorative and fine arts.
Becoming an expert on historic objects means learning to see. Curators, conservators, and historians view museum collections through different eyes than the casual viewer. Get a peek into their world with the spring installment of Bayou Bend’s Carol and Les Ballard Lecture Series.
Get a look behind closed doors at both of the MFAH house museums, Bayou Bend and Rienzi, and see rooms and spaces rarely on view to the public. Limited passes also available for a seminar with Maggie Lidz, former estate historian at Winterthur Museum in Delaware.
Complimentary shuttle transportation is provided between the two house museums. Visitors are encouraged to park at Bayou Bend, located at 6003 Memorial Drive.
Admission
This program is free, but reservations are strongly recommended for those who wish to participate in the seminar. Two time slots are offered for the talk—1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.—depending upon space available. To make a free reservation, e-mail [email protected] or call 713.639.7750.
