The Jung Center

The Secret Room: Hidden Trauma, Hidden Treasures, and the Integration of the Numinous

Saturday, Jul. 18, 2015

10:00 AM – 04:00 PM
US/Central

The motifs of the Forbidden Chamber and the Secret Room are indelibly linked. What is secret is often so for at least one, and sometimes all, of three reasons. Secret places may hide something precious that might be envied, stolen or violated in some way. Secondly, secret places may house the sacred. Thirdly, secret space may be a way of walling off areas of life and psyche that are considered inferior or dangerous by the prevailing cultural attitude.

This class will explore the motif of the Secret place through fairy tales, film clips and dreams.
