Raghubir Singh (1942–1999) was a pioneer of color street photography who worked prolifically from the late 1960s until his death. Born into an aristocratic family in Rajasthan, Singh spent time in Hong Kong, Paris, London, and New York, but his lifelong subject was his native India. In his 20s, he began contributing to the New York Times MagazineTimeLife, and National Geographic. By 1967 he had turned away from photojournalism to pursue an artistic vision that stood, as he put it, “on the Ganges side of Modernism.”

This 45-minute, docent-led tour explores the exhibition Modernism on the Ganges: Raghubir Singh Photographs and encourages visitors to discuss the art together.

Drop in! Gallery tours are free with Museum admission. On Thursdays, Museum admission is free, courtesy of Shell.
