11:00 AM – 03:00 PM
US/Central

HOH-Artist-tools

This month, join HCCC in making your own art tool inspired by our Artist Residency Program. Tour the current residents’ studios, and find out what equipment and tools the artists are using to make their artwork.  Watch them in action, and ask questions as they throw on a wheel, hammer a rivet, or sand wooden furniture.  Use wood, cardboard, wire, and rope to make your own art or mark-making tool.  Problem solve and experiment like an artist to see what your tool can do!

HANDS-ON HOUSTON is a free drop-in event held the first Saturday of every month. Each month, a teaching artist demonstrates a craft related to the current exhibitions. Families and children of all ages are welcome to come any time between 11 AM and 3 PM and participate in a 15 – 20-minute activity. Materials are provided. This program supports HCCC’s mission to advance education about the process, product, and history of craft. Learn more here.
