gig, draft is an improvisational project using the stage as a compositional framework.
gig, draft may (or may not) interrogate the operations that mark a beginning or an end of a form.
gig, draft will be performed by
Anisa Boukhlif (Houston) - laptop, field recordings
David Dove (Houston) - trombone, electronics, speakers
Gabriel Martinez (Houston) - prepared electric bass, objects, electronics
Anisa Boukhlif is a sound artist examining the synchronic/incidental qualities of found sound, through a shape-shifting, minimally processed pathway.
David Dove is a trombone player, improviser, composer and educator. He is the Founding Director of Nameless Sound, for which he has developed and written about an improvisational music pedagogy. He collaborates with many people and situations.
Gabriel Martinez lives and works in Houston. He graduated with an MFA from Columbia University and attended the Whitney Independent Study Program before moving to Houston as a Core Fellow and artist-in-residence at Project Rowhouses. He is the director of Alabama Song and a Friend of Angela Davis Park.
