Celebrate Halloween at Asia Society Texas Center with a day of spooky, kid-friendly fun, featuring movies, a haunted ghost trail, trick-or-treating for Asian candy, ghost story writing workshops with Writers in the School (WITS), and design-your-own-yōkai (Japanese monster) workshops. From ghosts to aswang to fox spirits, families will embark on an adventure to discover supernatural characters and strange tales from across Asia.

Activities will be appropriate for all ages, with signage indicating any content that might be sensitive for younger participants.

Admission is free. Tickets must be purchased for the ghost story writing workshops and the yōkai design workshops.

About the Films

Mary and the Witch's Flower
From Academy Award-nominated Hirosama Yonebayashi — animator on Studio Ghibli masterpieces Spirited Awa, Howl's Moving Castle, and Ponyo, and director of When Marnie Was There and The Secret World of Arrietty — comes a dazzling new adventure about a young girl named Mary, who discovers a flower that grants magical powers, but only for one night.

 

Monster Hunt
A smash hit from China, Monster Hunt takes place in an ancient world where monsters rule the land while humans keep to their own kingdom.
