Pierre-August Renoir, Still Life with Bouquet, 1871, oil on canvas, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the Robert Lee Blaffer Memorial Collection, gift of Sarah Campbell Blaffer.

What do raw pigments look like? What tools do painters use? How does the artist prepare the surface, such as wood or canvas, for painting? During selected Happy Hour Thursdays, visitors can stop by the Discovery Box cart and do something they can’t do anywhere else in the Museum—touch and feel these materials as they learn more about the painting process.
