US/Central
Visitors will create a painting fusing centuries-old South Asian manuscript traditions with contemporary techniques. Miniature painting, popular in Jainist manuscripts and the Mughal courts has experienced a renaissance in contemporary art, yet the focus of these new pieces gives us greater understanding of modern South Asian society and cultural norms.
This family program will look at this artwork and guide families in their own creation of pieces which honor traditions while also encouraging creativity.
