Join us for a day to explore the exhibition Stonewall 50 and celebrate Pride Houston.

11AM–2PM | Explore hands-on activities including—stenciling and bedazzling a colorful bandanna; decorating a frame, plaque, or brooch using found objects; and designing a button with collage materials. All activities are inspired by artists in CAMH’s current exhibition, Stonewall 50.

Practice intentional observation and self-reflection as you experience the exhibition with the Rothko Chapel’s Contemplation and Action Cards.

Come hungry and enjoy lunch with Tacos Bomberos.

12:30–2PM | Dance to a DJ set of forward-thinking sounds by interdisciplinary artist Juliana Huxtable.

About Juliana Huxtable

Juliana Huxtable was raised in Bryan-College Station, Texas, in 1987. She attended Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, New York, where she studied art, gender studies, and human rights. In her work, Huxtable explores the intersections of race, gender, queerness, and identity. She uses a diverse set of means to engage these issues, including self-portraiture, text-based prints, performance, nightlife, music, writing, and social media.

Continue the fun at Lawndale Art Center (4912 Main Street, Houston, Texas, 77002) with their Family Day from 12–2PM for an afternoon of free hands-on art activities. They are welcoming all to get inspired by their summer exhibitions while exploring an array of art supplies to create your own one-of-a-kind artwork!

Lawndale’s summer exhibitions include the work of their 2018/19 Artist Studio Program participants Julia Barbosa Landois, Robert Hodge, and John Pluecker; Preetika Rajgariah; Jonathan Molina-Garcia; and Michael Bhichitkul. Lawndale’s summer exhibitions are on view from Saturday, June 22 to Sunday, August 18, 2019.
