WORLD OCEAN DAY CELEBRATION

Saturday, Jun. 6, 2015

10:00 AM – 02:00 PM
US/Central

With a goal to stop plastic pollution, Healthy Oceans, Healthy Planet is this year’s theme for UN-designated World Oceans Day.

Visitors can celebrate at HMNS with a swim through the new Hamman Hall of Texas Coastal Ecology, Strake Hall of Malacology, Shark! Touch Tank Experience, and even the Morian Hall of Paleontology. Plus, there will be hands-on fun for all ages under the fishes in the Alfred Glassell Hall. Click here for more info.

Researchers from Texas Parks and Wildlife and the Shark Biology and Fisheries Lab at Texas A&M Galveston will let visitors know what they can do to keep the oceans healthy.

In honor of World Oceans Day, the Wortham Giant Screen Theatre will dedicate its screen to beautiful underwater films on June 6. Check listing here.
