Between Two Worlds: A Hymn for Black Gay Men on Race, Religion, and Rites of Passage
Between Two Worlds is a dance theater installation/performance created by Harrison Guy about the lives, experiences, and memories of black gay men. Crisscrossing generations, nationalities, expressions, identities, and beliefs, like a tightly woven braid, Between Two Worlds asks the question, “Can we be many things, at once?”

Taking place during Pride weekend, remembering the Stonewall Riots, the performance within Pepe’s installation will be one of three movements, a piece of a greater whole performed on Friday, June 24, 7:30 pm at MATCH and other nearby spaces.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

Since the mid-1990s, Pepe has used feminist and craft traditions to investigate received notions of canonical artwork, as well as the artist’s relationship to museum display. For this exhibition, Pepe invites artists and participants to perform, explore, and discuss issues related to race and LGBTQ identity through a series of events that will take place within her installation.
