EXPRESSIVE-ARTS-240X240

Reflect on what it means to move from middle age into what Jung calls "the afternoon of life." We do not have a roadmap for this journey, but the truth is, we have specific tasks as we enter our elder years (60-90+ years of age). Through writing prompts, sandtray, movement exercises, and other expressive arts, we will search for and give voice to the elders, sages, and wise ones within by accessing the creativity that shows us how to serve as guardians of the mystery and keepers of the heritage of our cultures.

About the Workshop

Joyce Boatright is a writer, blogger, and retreat leader who is easing into the afternoon of life. She teaches life writing at the Jung Center in Houston and serves on the academic faculty at Lone Star College. Writing fast—ahead of the Internal Critic—is one of her guiding credos because it releases rich “aha” moments in her creative life.

Karleen Koen is a bestselling novelist, former editor, and creative guru in the afternoon of life. She teaches classes in the School of Continuing Education at Rice University and for Writers League of Texas. She is one of the founders of Women in Visual and Literary Arts (WIVLA) and a firm believer in finding and feeding the muse who exists within all.
