Explore the science behind your health in the Power Science Lab, located in PowerPlay! Play the role of scientist as you participate in interactive experiments that focus on biology, the human body and nutrition. Pick up your lab coat, goggles and nitrile gloves as you step into the Power Science Lab to use everyday lab equipment such as microscopes, petri dishes, test tubes and more!
The Power Science is open from 10 am - 6 pm, but please allow enough time to complete experiments prior to closing.
About the Programs & Activities

IRON IN CEREAL
Iron is needed by the body to make red blood cells which allows us to live and breathe. Visitors will use magnets to extract and compare the amount of iron found in everyday cereals. Experiment time: 10 Minutes
PROTEIN TESTING
Discover the presence of protein in common snack items by following our easy steps and observing a chemical reaction. Experiment time: 20 Minutes
TITRATION REACTION
Vistors will be able to measure Vitamin C levels found in bell peppers, lemons, and oranges by the titration method. Experiment Time: 20 Minutes
CARBOHYDRATE DIGESTION
Children and families will be able to perform an experiment over the digestion of starch in the body by using a digestive enzyme called amylase which is found in our saliva! Experiment time: 20 Minutes

Closed Mondays. Closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, and Easter Sunday. - General Admission: $17 per person and $16 for seniors 65 years and older. FREE for children under one and Museum Members. Free Hours: FREE FAMILY NIGHT: Thursdays 5 pm - 8 pm.
