Roman Vishniac Rediscovered

Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015

02:00 PM – 02:45 PM
US/Central

Through his poignant images, Roman Vishniac—more than any other photographer—influenced contemporary notions of Jewish life in Eastern Europe prior to World War II. Vishniac (1897–1990) created the most widely recognized and reproduced photographic record of that world on the eve of its annihilation. He was also a remarkably versatile and innovative photographer—from his early engagements with European Modernism in the 1920s to his highly inventive color photomicroscopy in the 1950s and 1960s.

This 45-minute tour explores the full range of his work.
