Introduced by Richard D. Kinder, executive chairman, Kinder Morgan; chairman, MFAH Board of Trustees

From Here to Eternity tells the powerful story of American military men and women stationed in Hawaii during the months before the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor. Montgomery Clift, Deborah Kerr, Burt Lancaster, Donna Reed, and Frank Sinatra—in an Oscar-winning performance—play characters trying to find happiness in a world that has, so far, offered only disappointment. Framed by two love stories, this film was one of the first to show the harshness of military life, including bullying. The passionate kiss on the beach between Kerr and Lancaster is an indelible moment in American movie history.
