John R. Eckel, Jr. Foundation Chief Curator, Menil Drawing Institute Edouard Kopp discusses the site specific wall drawing Vertical (2019) by Berlin-based artist Jorinde Voigt (b. 1977). This extraordinary new work responds to the vegetation and natural resources endemic to Houston and the Gulf Coast region, recording the artist’s presence within this landscape.
The Menil’s Curator Talks are discussions about a single work of art, or group of works, on view in the museum’s galleries. This talk will be held in the Menil Drawing Institute.
