Aunt Pearlie Sue will put on a one-of-a-kind show at the Children’s Museum of Houston. Filled with stories and songs this special Gullah Christmas event will showcase the under told story of the Gullah people and their culture. Be sure to come to an exclusive performance, enjoy authentic Benne Seed Wafers (while supplies last) and immerse yourself in a slice of American history! About the Performance

Gullah Show at 1 and 3 pm in Brown Auditorium

Meet and Greet from 4-6 pm in Cum Yah Gullah exhibit

Aunt Pearlie Sue is the creation of legendary actress Anita Singleton-Prather, a native of the Sea Islands in Beaufort County, South Carolina. Based on her grandmother, Aunt Pearlie Sue’s character has entertained audiences with Gullah-flavored folktales for over 10 years. She has appeared in the film Forrest Gump and on the Food Network’s Christmas Across America. Her one-woman show, Tales from the Land of Gullah, has been broadcast on PBS nationwide, Canada and the Virgin Islands.

Tuesday - Saturday, 10:00 am - 6:00 pm
Thursday, 10:00 am - 8:00 pm
Sunday, 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Closed Mondays. Closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, and Easter Sunday.
General Admission: $17 per person and $16 for seniors 65 years and older. FREE for children under one and Museum Members. Free Hours: FREE FAMILY NIGHT: Thursdays 5 pm - 8 pm.
