Are you inspired when you walk into the Museum? Art instructor Bill Ferguson will take you on an artistic journey through the Museum to explore the different principles of drawing. This three-part course is ideal for beginners, and those whose skills are a little rusty. Registration includes a 12-piece supply kit that is yours to keep. Each session is 3 hours. Class size is extremely limited.
January 27: Shape & Form, Hall of Texas Wildlife - The Hall of Texas Wildlife lends itself perfectly to the study of Shape and Form. As you draw the awesome taxidermy, your instructor will touch on the anatomy of the animals and how the curve of the spine controls the pose.
February 24: Highlights & Values, Hall of Paleontology - Highlights and Values are the principles we explore in the Hall of Paleontology. Here we focus on core shadows, reflected highlights and types of shading. The beautifully lit dinosaur skeletons are excellent subjects to render on paper.
March 30: Perspective & Composition, Butterfly Center - Our final session in the Butterfly Center introduces perspective and composition. Your instructor will teach color basics, like warm versus cool colors, as well as types of perspective and composition. In this session we will incorporate watercolor into your work.
