Recall and honor the transformation from girlhood to womanhood. What were our emotional responses to each stage of our growth? How have our personal experiences defined us and helped us grow into the unique individuals we are today? What needs to be recreated or restored in our lives? What legacy can we create for the next generation as we become elders in our community?
Using instructor-generated writing prompts, the group will explore these questions as participants remember and examine rites of passage. Although sharing is encouraged, it is never required.
About the Class
Joyce Boatright, EdD, author of Telling Your Story: A Basic Guide to Memoir Writing, has been teaching memoir since 1992. She is past president of Story Circle Network, a national organization dedicated to encouraging women to give voice to their personal stories. She teaches at Lone Star College-North Harris.

- Do not park in the lot behind the MFAH building on weekdays before 5 pm. However, the museum does generously allow Jung Center patrons to park in the lot after 5 pm and on the weekend. Paid parking available in front of The Center and on Montrose in front of The Glassell School and the MFAH Administration Building. Parking is always at a premium in the Museum District during business hours, but parallel parking spaces can often be found in front of The Center and on Montrose in front of The Glassell School and the MFAH Administration Building.
