Rice Gallery

Walley Films

Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017 – Sunday, May. 14, 2017

Since 2011, Rice Gallery has commissioned Mark and Angela Walley, the husband and wife duo who make up Walley Films, to create short videos that get inside the minds of the artists we invite to create temporary, site-specific installations. These films include footage of how the work is made, interviews with the artist, and the finished installation. They go far beyond simple documentation, and each video by Walley Films is a work of art in its own right. With a sensitive eye and a curiosity to get at the heart of what drives each artist, they use incredible technical skill and creativity to capture in just a few minutes something that will last well beyond the ephemeral lifespan of each installation.
