Presented by Helga Aurisch, curator of European art; co-curator of "Habsburg Splendor: Masterpieces from Vienna’s Imperial Collections"
The exhibition Habsburg Splendor: Masterpieces from Vienna’s Imperial Collections comprises paintings by a Who's Who of great names in Renaissance and Baroque art: Correggio, Giorgione, Rubens, Tintoretto, Titian, Velázquez. Also included are masterpieces that have never before traveled to the United States, such as Caravaggio's Christ Crowned with Thorns; Correggio's Jupiter and Io; and Hans Holbein the Younger’s portrait Jane Seymour, depicting the queen of England and third wife of King Henry VIII. Learn about the enduring role these magnificent works play in the history of art, and their significance to the Habsburgs as collectors.
