Established by the World Health Organization in 1988, World AIDS Day on December 1st, is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV and raise awareness of the continuing epidemic around the globe. It is an occasion to reflect about the more than 25 million people who have died from HIV/AIDS over the past decade, to consider how to better care for the 35 million people living with HIV/AIDS, and to reach out to families, friends and loved ones who have been deeply affected.
