TURKISH FILM FESTIVAL

In her feature-film debut, writer/director Banu Sivaci delivers the delicate tale of Yusuf (Kemal Burak Alper), who raises pigeons on the roof of his building in an Adana slum. Existing on the margins of society, sensitive Yusuf wants nothing more than to nurture the birds he inherited from his late father.

His brother (Ruhi Sari), however, does not understand Yusuf’s devotion to the animals and forces him to work in a garage, salvaging auto parts. When work responsibilities require a week-long job out of town, Yusuf fears what will happen to the pigeons in his absence. Overcoming many obstacles to get back home, Yusuf summons inner strength to face up to those threatening his lifestyle. The Pigeon won Best First Film at the 2018 Ankara and Istanbul International Film Festivals, as well as Best Actor at the 2018 Adana Film Festival.
