Among the most fascinating motifs in fairy tales is the Forbidden Chamber, a place kept deliberately secret from the (often female) protagonist. She knows of its existence, but not its mysterious contents, and has been warned of terrible consequences if she dares stray there.
This class will explore the archetypal underpinnings of this terrifying discovery, a double edged process of sacrifice and psychic growth. The disobedience required to enter the chamber is initiatory--the driving force behind the individuation process.
About the Workshop
Tiffany Baugher
Tiffany R. Baugher, Ph.D., LPsych, is a depth psychologist with 20 years of experience in the field. She has made a particular study of symbolic space in dream and literature. An instructor at The Jung Center since 2001, she is also the education chair for the Jung Society of Austin, where she has a private practice and conducts clinical research. She is a graduate of Pacifica Graduate Institute.

- Do not park in the lot behind the MFAH building on weekdays before 5 pm. However, the museum does generously allow Jung Center patrons to park in the lot after 5 pm and on the weekend. Paid parking available in front of The Center and on Montrose in front of The Glassell School and the MFAH Administration Building. Parking is always at a premium in the Museum District during business hours, but parallel parking spaces can often be found in front of The Center and on Montrose in front of The Glassell School and the MFAH Administration Building.
