Lawndale Art Center is pleased to announce The Big Show 2016 award recipient selected by guest jurors Apsara DiQuinzio, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art and Phyllis C. Wattis MATRIX Curator of the BAMPFA (Berkeley Arts Museum and Pacific Film Archive), and Tina Kukielski, Executive Director of ART21.
The $3000 award, generously underwritten by Kathrine McGovern/McGovern Foundation, was presented to Katya Vassilyeva for the piece titled First Cause.
The Big Show is an ambitious exhibition of new works by artists practicing within a 100-mile radius of Lawndale.
About the Exhibition
A total of 105 works by 87 artists were selected for the exhibition from 1,389 works submitted by 517 artists. Artists selected for the exhibition include:
