Sunday Family Zone + Studio “Jugs and Jars: Exploring Texas Pottery”

Sunday, Sep. 20, 2015

01:00 PM – 04:00 PM
US/Central

Ceramics have been made in Texas since the prehistoric era. This September, families are invited to explore 19th–century stoneware pottery made right here in the Lone Star State.

Guests can go on an adventure in the galleries, listen to special storybooks, sharpen looking skills with sketching, and create works of art. This suite of programs includes:

  •  Sunday Storybook Circle Make connections between a storybook and a work of art in the galleries. (Begins at 1:30 pm)
  •  Creation Station At this family-friendly studio workshop, an MFAH teaching artist encourages families to create art using materials or ideas similar to those used by the artist who created the featured work of art on display in the Family Zone.
  •  Gallery Adventures Visit the Family Zone, where an MFAH educator has looking games, books, and hands-on activities for families to use in the galleries.
