Guests can spend their summer traveling the world without leaving Houston! Every Thursday in June and July, families are invited to globe-trot through the Museum's collections, exploring cultures and works of art from near and far.

In the galleries, families can enjoy playful discussions about art; sharpen their observation skills with gallery games and sketching; and listen to exciting stories read by special guests. In the studio, guests can work with creative museum educators and artists to make their own masterpiece inspired by what they discovered today.

About the Recurring Event

  • 11 am-2 pm Discover works of art from across the Museum at the Gallery Cart.
  • 11 am-2 pm Create your own work of art in the studio.
  • 11 am-2 pm Sketch works of art in the galleries. A teaching artist is on hand with paper, pencils, and clipboards to get you started.
  • 11:30 am-1 pm Listen to stories and make connections to works of art in the galleries through looking games and interactive discussions.
  • Anytime the Museum is open, visit the Kinder Foundation Education Center (KFEC) to borrow self-guided resources that encourage creativity, spark discussions, and make art come alive. You can also send a summer postcard, and check out Family Packs and "A Book and A Look" activities.

  • All of these resources are free with admission. Ages 12 and younger always receive free admission, and on Thursday, general admission is free for everyone.
