Planting for Pollinators!

Monday, Jan. 16, 2017 – Monday, Jan. 16, 2017

09:00 AM – 03:00 PM
US/Central

Activities and games in the Children's Zoo outside the Swap Shop

Do you like eating chocolate, fruit, and ice cream? You have pollinators to thank for these foods and more! Pollinators help plants complete their life-cycle by moving pollen from one plant to another.

Visit the Houston Zoo on Monday, January 16 to learn the importance of pollinators, and how the Zoo, and YOU, can help protect them right here in your own backyard! There will be games and activities for all guests to enjoy, plus enjoy double points at the Naturally Wild Swap Shop for pollinator reports turned in on this day.

Thanks to the support of the NFL, Verizon, the Houston Super Bowl Host Committee, and Trees for Houston, two new pollinator gardens will be planted throughout the Zoo to continue our efforts to help protect these important animals.

At 10 a.m., representatives from the Zoo, NFL, Verizon, and the Houston Super Bowl Host Committee, and Trees for Houston, along with the Houston Texans cheerleaders and team mascot TORO, will host a brief program to unveil and dedicate these gardens. Join us at the Houston Texans Enrichment Zone to start the presentation, followed by a “parade” to the new pollinator garden located near the giraffe barn.

This free event is included in your paid Houston Zoo admission and is free for Zoo Members.
