Performance | Cell Lust | a body with Emilý Æyer and Traci Lavois Thiebaud

Saturday, Sep. 8, 2018 – Saturday, Sep. 8, 2018

02:00 PM – 03:00 PM
US/Central

09_08_18-1400x875

An ephemeral exploration of gender, sex, and relationships through word, light, and sound as told by the celestial bodies of the universe.

As the performers personify these non-binary entities, they propose a future where our earthly forms derive meaning outside of polarity, and instead align with the fluidity of the cosmos. Realizing this future forces a necessary rewiring of social beliefs that rely on the constructs of the binary. With this new perspective they are called to revolutionize our treatment of humanity through social, political, and economic models.

This performance continues CAMH’s legacy of showcasing new performance work within the gallery space. Cell Lust | a body will be presented in conjunction with the exhibition Stage Environment: You Didn’t Have to Be There.

Emilý Æyer and Traci Lavois Thiebaud

Emilý Æyer and Traci Lavois Thiebaud partner with music, poetry, light installation, and animated collage to evoke mindful wonderings on subjects of death, gender, and what it means to be human.

Æyer is a vocalist who lives, works, and creates in Houston, Texas.  She has studied vocal performance for over twenty years.  Æyer works as a vocalist, freelance writer, and figure model.  Her original music has been featured almost exclusively in the underground circuit via the variety show Carol,  co-created by Traci Lavois Thiebaud.  Thiebaud is a writer, multimedia artist, director, producer, and performer.  She studied at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in Los Angeles, California. Currently Thiebaud produces video and live creative content with Dinolion, and teaches improv comedy at BETA Theater.
