The Rapoport Center for Human Rights and Justice and the Rothko Chapel are pleased to announce that labor organizer and activist Ai-jen Poo will headline the third Frances Tarlton “Sissy” Farenthold Endowed Lecture in Peace, Social Justice and Human Rights at the Rapoport Center, UT Austin School of Law.

The presentation will focus on the role of immigrant women in the American care economy, which is increasingly a central part of our entire economy. The talk will begin with Poo’s personal story, and weave in the stories and solutions of immigrant women and the movement for a more caring economy and democracy. A reception will follow in the Jamail Pavilion.

Congruent with Sissy’s own history of exposing and responding to injustices as both a public servant and citizen, the lecture series inspires audiences to act creatively in response to the greatest human rights challenges of the 21st century. To learn more about Sissy and the lecture series, click here.
