New York artist Ellie Shine (played by the film’s director, artist Laurie Simmons) is looking to gain inspiration and tranquility as she house-sits for a friend in upstate New York. Accompanied by her lovable handicapped terrier, Ellie comes of age—middle age—in her new surroundings. She turns the adjoining barn into a studio and stages elaborate re-creations of classic movie scenes, ranging from Some Like It Hot to A Clockwork Orange.

Business unexpectedly evolves into possible pleasure when Ellie invites three locals to participate in her vignettes. Soon, all three men are romantically interested in Ellie, but she’s determined to resist anything that would disrupt her creative process. The cast includes Robert Clohessy, Parker Posey, John Rothman, Josh Safdie, and Simmons’s real-life daughter, Lena Dunham.
