The Menil Collection Bookstore is pleased to host a truck show featuring handmade jewelry by local jewelry designer Ludmila Ivanova and visual artist Kaneem Smith.
Ludmila Ivanova has been a jewelry designer since 1976. Born in Bulgaria, Ludmila moved to Houston in 1990, and for more than a decade she operated the Bijou Galerie & Studio in Montrose. In 2015, she moved her shop to Silver Street Studios, her current location, where she utilizes traditional jewelry making techniques and modern design concepts to create her original wearable works of art. Every piece of jewelry she makes is designed and hand crafted by her and incorporates silver, gold and semi-precious and precious stones.
Houston artist, educator, and Menil Bookstore Associate Kaneem Smith utilizes found African Trade beads, Venetian, Czech glass beads and natural stone and shell beads elements to make her one of a kind statement pieces.
Please join us for the reception with refreshments and light bites at the Menil Bookstore (1520 Sul Ross Street) on Friday, June 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. This event is free and open to everyone.
