Matisse from MoMA and Tate Modern offers viewers an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at the acclaimed 2014 exhibition Henri Matisse: The Cut-Outs, hailed as the most successful exhibition in the history of London's Tate Modern. This documentary also features exclusive footage from the show’s presentation at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City.

The film includes interviews with people who knew Matisse, with Tate director Nicholas Serota and MoMA director Glenn D. Lowry, and with other curators and historians. Plus there are breathtaking, specially commissioned performances by Royal Ballet principal dancer Zenaida Yanowsky and jazz musician Courtney Pine. Legendary British stage actor Simon Russell Beale brings insight and emotion to the words of Matisse himself, and actor Rupert Young—best known for his role in the BBC series Merlin—narrates.
