Presented by author Annie Cohen-Solal ("Mark Rothko: Toward the Light in the Chapel") in conjunction with the exhibition "Mark Rothko: A Retrospective"
This lecture places Rothko in the contexts of a Europe devastated by wars and anti-Jewish violence, and America’s postwar cultural scene, to tell the unlikely story of how a young immigrant became a crucial, transforming agent of the art world—a man whose legacy prevails to this day.
A book signing follows.
