Kung Fu Hustle 1.2

This November, get ready for some outrageous fun as Asia Society Texas Center screens Stephen Chow's classic martial-arts comedy Kung Fu Hustle outside on our Festival Lawn. The party will start with a pre-show featuring an interactive kung fu performance, with food available from Breaking Bao food truck and Pondi Café at Asia Society.

Bring your own blankets, lawn chairs, and beverages to enjoy during the outdoor screening! In case of inclement weather, the film screening will move indoors.

This event is FREE and open to the public. Please RSVP for planning purposes.

About the Film

Kung Fu Hustle starts Chow as Sing, a hopeless loser who desperately wants to become a member of the Axe Gang. He stumbles into a Shanghai slum ruled by eccentric landlords who turn out to be kung fu masters in disguise. Sing's actions eventually cause the Axe Gang an the slumlords to engage in an explosive kung fu battle. From wildly imaginative showdowns to dance sequences featuring tuxedoed mobsters, this is the movie Roger Ebert said is "like Jackie Chan and Buster Keaton meet Quentin Tarantino and Bugs Bunny" and that Bill Murray called "the supreme achievement of the modern age in terms of comedy."

Education and outreach programs at Asia Society Texas Center are made possible through generous funding from Karen Chang, Greater Houston Community Foundation, and the George and Mary Josephine Hamman Foundation. Generous funding also provided by the Friends of Asia Society Texas Center, a dedicated group of individuals and organizations committed to bringing exceptional programming and exhibitions to Asia Society Texas Center.
