The U.S. Department of State and Asia Society Texas Center are pleased to offer a Houston Global Teaching Dialogue professional development workshop and information sessions for area K-12 educators. Through this event, we hope to raise awareness and increase connectivity between educators, community schools, local institutions, and nonprofit organizations that focus on global education.

From 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., the U.S. Department of State will feature a panel of teacher alumni and breakout sessions led by alumni who have taken part in exchange programs abroad and returned home with renewed enthusiasm and techniques for incorporating global education in their classrooms. Alumni will represent the Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Program, the Teachers for Global Classrooms Program, and the Teachers of Critical Languages Program.
Breakout sessions will include: Building Global Competency Through Strong Partnerships and Building a Culture of Global Education at Your Campus.

From noon until 3:00 p.m., Asia Society Texas Center will offer a separate professional development workshop, which will include a series of breakout and information sessions geared towards K-12 educators interested in bringing global education into their classrooms.
Breakout sessions will include: Student Leadership and Diplomacy, Connecting with Local Organizations that Support Global Education, and Educational Resources from Consulates General in Houston.

Teachers and school and district leaders from urban, suburban, and rural public, private, and charter schools are invited to register, as well as nonprofit organizations, university students and faculty, community group representatives, and museum educators.

The event is free of charge, but registration is required (which will allow for participation in both the morning and afternoon activities). Parking vouchers will be provided for registered attendees. Continental breakfast and lunch are included with registration.
