Through progressive photonics, fascinating details are revealed that were previously oblivious to science--soft tissue, feathers and more. Progressive photonics is a new imaging and research technique using the electromagnetic spectrum pioneered by Mike Eklund to extract far more complete information and novel insights into the fossils and ancient life.
Paleontologist Mike Eklund will discuss these improved methods for recognizing, preparing, and documenting the highest level detail and information in paleontological specimens. Many of the images in his talk will be unveiled to the public for the first time this evening. Additionally, many fossils in the HMNS collection, including the new acquisition of large Green River fossils going have been photographed by Mike Eklund with photonics. You won't want to miss this lecture to see what is revealed by the light!
Mike is director at ThinklabZ and a research associate with The University of Texas, Jackson School of Geosciences.
Early Bird pricing available until 1/20.
