During Spring Break week, join Houston Center for Contemporary Craft for hands-on making and other activities that encourage families to explore craft together. Although it’s normally closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, HCCC will be open all week for this special event.

In the galleries, discover whimsical furniture and prints in Tom Loeser: Please Please Pleaseand study the handmade ceramic objects on view in To Be of Use. Spend time looking, talking, and sketching art in the galleries with our experienced docents, and explore the open studios of HCCC’s current resident artists to gain insight into the inspirations and artistic processes of working artists. Experiment with new materials, tools, and techniques each morning of the week with hand-on activities.

Note: Please allow 25 minutes to complete this activity. The activity will take place indoors and is on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last.

HCCC Spring Break is a free drop-in event held during Spring Break week. Families and children of all ages are welcome to drop in between 10 AM and 1 PM to participate in a 15 – 20-minute activity. Materials are provided. Self-guided activity cards and sketching in the galleries will be available 10 AM – 5 PM. This program supports HCCC’s mission to advance education about the process, product, and history of craft.
