About the Lecture
About Rex Koontz
Rex Koontz is an art historian who works in Mexico and Guatemala on the ancient art of that region. He has written several books and numerous book chapters and journal articles on the art and architecture of the ancient Gulf Coast of Mexico (modern state of Veracruz), and is currently at work on the non-Western portion of the forthcoming Thames and Hudson Global Survey of Art, as well as a new edition (8th) of his overview of ancient Mexican history, Mexico (with Michael Coe). Rex Koontz is Director of the School of Art, University of Houston.
