The dark paintings that Mark Rothko created for Houston’s Rothko Chapel—along with the sonic world of his fellow New York School member Earle Brown—have inspired a new work by Shane Monds of Da Camera Young Artists. This concert in the galleries of the exhibition Mark Rothko: A Retrospective pairs the work of Monds and Brown with the first movement of String Quintet in G Minor by Rothko’s beloved Mozart. Da Camera Young Artists performers include Jae-won Bang, violin; Renaud Boucher-Browning, bass; Ingrid Hunter, violin; Abjihit Sengupta, viola; and Jill Valentine, viola.
